Freedom Trust is a community development trust that originated from Papanui Baptist Church. We have a strong partnership and a shared vision to support whānau in building caring communities in Northwest Christchurch.

Community activities we run

Cards and Games

Dive into the excitement of our Cards and Board Games Group, where players of all skill levels come together for fun! Enjoy a welcoming atmosphere as you make new friends and challenge yourself with a diverse selection of games. Every fortnight on Thursday 1-4pm $3 per session (EFTPOS and cash available)

Creative Sewing

Join our vibrant sewing and quilting group, where creativity flourishes and friendships blossom! Whether you’re a seasoned stitcher or a curious beginner, come share tips, techniques, and inspiration in a welcoming community Tuesday- 9.30 - 12pm $4 per session (EFTPOS and cash available)

Friendship Friday Community Lunch

Entertainment, laughter, socializing, helpful information and of course fantastic food! Our Community Lunch is where delicious food and friendly conversation come together to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere! It's a perfect opportunity to connect with others, share stories, and build lasting friendships over fantastic food. Monthly from 12-1.45pm $5.00 adults, $1 kids & youth (EFTPOS and cash available)

Kai Connect

Every Wednesday from 1-2pm. Freedom Trust offers kai (food) support each week to help whānau in the Northcote & Bishopdale areas. Mainly Music

A fun interactive music session where parents and little ones can explore rhythm, melody, and movement in a joyful, interactive environment! Through singing, dancing, and playful activities, children will develop a love for music while making new friends and building essential skills. Tuesdays 10am-12pm $4 per child or $5 per family (EFTPOS and cash available)

Social English

Connect and converse in our Social English Group, where language learning meets fun and friendship! Join us for engaging discussions, cultural exchange, and opportunities to practise your English in a supportive environment. Friday 10-11.30am $3 per session (EFTPOS and cash available)

Something Different on Wednesday

You’ll find a warm and welcoming community where meeting new friends is easy. Join us over delicious home-baked morning teas and a variety of engaging activities each week. Wednesday 10-11.30am Koha appreciated (EFTPOS and cash available)

Ukulele Club

Whether you’re a seasoned player or just starting out, come strum, sing, and connect with fellow enthusiasts in a fun, supportive environment. Fridays 12:30-2pm $3 per session (EFTPOS and cash available)
