National Hui 2025

Kia ora koutou

Adam and I had a magnificent time in Palmerston North attending the Baptist National Hui 2025.  As always with people coming together, they can be melting pots of thoughts, ideas, hopes and dreams– and also some viruses. Therefore, we have been mostly working from home this week as we are in different stages of illness and recovery and want to relay the thoughts, not the thrips, of Hui!

Charles Hewlitt, who led the NZ Baptist movement for the last seven years, has finished his tenure as National Leader and a new one was voted in. Most of you will know Chris Chamberlain who has been active in our association for a long time, most recently as our Upper South Regional Leader; we have been fortunate enough to have both of them speak at PBC in the last couple of years. Please be praying for Charles as he steps into a new season and for Chris as he prepares to step into a new role.

We were also inspired by the Global Baptist ‘Acts 2’ movement. As we head towards 2033, the 2000 anniversary of the birth of the church we are excited that the Spirit is still moving and stirring hearts towards Christ and His mission.

There is a call for an intentional focus on Biblical literacy, sharing of our stories, deepening of friendships and showing care as we work for justice. All things that we have been doing together here at PBC this year! Check out more on our NZ Baptist website here: https://acts2.baptist.nz/

I would encourage you to read Acts 2 and think on how we at PBC might become even more like the fellowship of believers Luke describes in vs 42-47.
