Happenings at the hutch

11 March 2021

A good business will sell what is in demand, a smart business creates the demand as well. One thing I have observed over the last few decades is that bad news sells. In this current climate where the rhythms of life have been shaped by 1pm announcements, breaking news bulletins and 4pm press briefings, the demand for news has definitely increased.

As Camp Month has drawn to a close I have been reflecting on what God has been speaking to us as a body through the themes and thoughts that have been discerned over this time as well as thinking on the next ‘mini- series’ we will be doing – What is the Gospel?

Looking at the common themes and phrases that have been captured in the word cloud above, I think they can be summed up in the phrase ‘living out the gospel’.  For gospel simply means good news.  Living out the good news.  When there is so much bad news about, it is good to be reminded of the good news that we have in Christ.

Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel (good news) I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. (1 Cor 15:1-2)

But good news for who?  Good news for what?  In a cascade of bad news, come and be reminded of all we have in and through God’s Word. Come and be reminded of ‘What is the Gospel?
