Fruit of the Spirit

the tree
12 March 2026

If you happened to walk past the Matai space recently, you might notice that our tree has grown a lot since the last newsletter. What began as a bare trunk has slowly been filling out week by week. As we’ve explored each Fruit of the Spirit together, the children have been adding new branches, leaves, and fruit. What once looked like a few scattered pieces of paper is now starting to resemble a tree of abundance.

As the tree has grown, so has our understanding of the fruit themselves. One thing that has sat with me is how closely these fruits are connected to one another. Goodness might be shown by forgiving someone. That same act of forgiveness could also be kindnessgentleness, or even the restoration of peace in a relationship. The love we receive from others often appears in their patience with us, or in the self-control that allows them to respond calmly and graciously.

What the children are discovering is that these fruits rarely grow in isolation. Together they shape a way of living with others that encourages harmony, strengthens relationships, and reflects God’s character in everyday moments.

Recently, our wonderful team of volunteers also gathered together to connect and reflect on why this ministry matters to us. We shared the stories that drew us here and the hope we have for the children we serve. It was a reminder that the same Spirit who grows these fruits in our children is also at work among the people who walk alongside them each week.

Blessings

Sophie
